Get to know Dr Laura – what she loves about working with animals and the advice she wishes every pet owner knew.
1. What inspired you to become a veterinarian?
At the age of four, I decided I wanted to be a veterinarian. I have always adored animals and once at school I thoroughly enjoyed science and medicine, so I couldn’t imagine pursuing any other career. Also, my favourite show as a child was Harry’s Practice!
2. Do you have any pets of your own?
I have a 4 year old cat named Stacey. She is a very special girl with some movement and vision deficits, but this does not stop her, and she is an absolute angel who just loves to be loved. I am writing this with her curled up on my lap!
3. What do you love most about working in this community?
I love our incredible team who all work together to achieve the best care we can for the animals we treat. We all have so much love and care for the pets & clients we see, and I love working collaboratively and openly with our clients to develop the best treatment plan for their pets.
4. What’s one piece of advice you wish every pet owner knew?
Before you give anything to your pets or have any flowers/plants in the house, please just run it through google first!
5. Do you have a favourite animal? What is it and why?
I am a certified crazy cat lady. I love how each cat has such a special & unique personality and that if given the chance, they can bond just as strongly to their owners as dogs do. I also believe that a cat’s purr is one of the most beautiful and soothing sounds in the world.
